2026 Official Theme
World Rabies Day 2026 calls on governments, health organisations, communities, and individuals to unite. No single person, country, or institution can eliminate rabies alone — but together, we can reach the global goal of zero human rabies deaths by 2030.
World Rabies Day honours Louis Pasteur, who developed the first rabies vaccine in 1885. His breakthrough transformed a universally fatal disease into a preventable one. 141 years later, the vaccine exists — but access and awareness remain the barrier.
